Panchkarma – Detoxification Of Human Body

Preliminary detoxification and Ama-reducing methods according to one’s dosha, should usually be followed for a period prior to Pancha Karma.
Oleation and Sweating Methods
Application of oils, Snehana, also called ‘oleation therapy’ is an important therapeutic method in Ayurveda, with oils used both externally and internally. Steam therapy or therapeutic sweating, Svedana, is another important method. These two are significant parts of Pancha Karma but are also useful in themselves for treating various conditions and for health maintenance.
After adequate detoxification, a period of daily oil application and sweating therapy should be followed for at least one week for health maintenance and three weeks for the treatment of severe diseases. Warm sesame oil is applied all over the body in large amounts, while the patient lays on a special Ayurvedic massage table. Special medicated oils (like Narayan or Mahanarayan oil) can be applied, particularly to specific disease sites. The skill in massage is not the issue here.
Sweating is done a few minutes after oleation, generally using a special Ayurvedic sweatbox, often with the addition of the steam of diaphoretic herbs (camphor, eucalyptus, mint, or bayberry) for most patients, or with tonics (Dashamula and bala) for weaker types. Herbs can be decocted in a pressure cooker, to which a hose is attached at the top (called nadi sveda).
Heavy application of oils, also, will depress the digestive fire and cause loss of appetite or constipation. Hence, oil application should not be heavy, or it should be balanced out by taking ginger or other spicy herbs to improve the digestive fire.
Pradhana Karma
1. THERAPUTIC VOMITING (Vamana)
Herbs- Strong teas of licorice, are used, generally about one ounce of the herb per pint of water, or simply a large amount of salt water can be used instead. One should then apply a finger down the throat. Once the vomiting reflex arises one should follow it out all the way. It is easier to empty the stomach through one or two strong reflexes than through a series of weak ones. It is important to empty the stomach thoroughly. It is mainly for those with congestion of phlegm in the lungs and stomach, usually Kapha constitutions. The best season is spring, particularly late spring when the weather has warmed up. It should not be done during stormy or rainy weather. It gives better results if done around the time of the full moon. Best time is morning after sunrise.
2. PURGATION
Purgation, Virechana, is the simplest Pancha Karma method and its effect is easy to observe. A strong purgative is given like aloe or castor oil. Purgative herbs are usually given in the evening, so that five to eight bowel movements occur the next day, flushing out the intestines. Late spring and summer are the best seasons. Purgation is used to eliminate excess Pitta from its site in the small intestine. This cleansing of the small intestine can weaken the digestive fire and so it is not always advisable for Vata types.
3. CLEANSING ENEMAS
Enemas (basti) are a mild therapy and can be used for many conditions. Cleansing enemas (Niruha basti) are used in Pancha Karma to dispel excess Vata from its site in the large intestine. They are made with decoctions of anti-Vata herbs.
4. NASAL APPLICATION OF HERBS/NASYA
Ayurveda has a whole variety of herbal preparations, including decoctions, oils and ghee, and the smoking of herbs for direct action on the nasal passage. This is called Nasya, literally, ‘what relates to the nose.’ For the purification action of Pancha Karma, cleansing herbs are given through the nose, either as snuffs, decoctions or oils.
Nasya is useful for many Vata and Kapha disorders. It allows for direct action on prana and the brain. It is helpful in some Pitta disorders, as well as any diseases of the head and nasal passages.
5. THERAPUETIC RELEASE OF TOXIC BLOOD
In the proper application of blood-releasing therapy, toxic blood is taken out of various sites in the body, usually along the back. The blood should be dark in colour. Once it becomes bright red, the treatment should stop. The use of alternative and blood-cleansing herbs has a similar effect over a long period of time. Also good are blood-cleansing spices like turmeric and saffron.
FOLLOW-UP PRACTICES (Uttara Karma)
Pancha Karma treatment has several follow up practices. It is not an isolated therapy that can be done once and forgotten, but must be integrated into one’s entire life-regimen. First, it may be necessary to repeat the whole process of Pancha Karma. More than one session may be needed to cleanse deep-seated toxins, particularly if shortened (week long sessions or less) versions of Pancha Karma are followed.
Second, after Pancha Karma, we should return to a diet and life-style in harmony with our constitution, or establish one if we have not done so already.

Boost your Immune System and Stay Healthy With Ayurveda
The Ayurvedic approach is that the body is kept in balance and the immune system at peak efficiency so that infections and various inflammations seldom manifest. If there is a lapse in balance, then rebalance and specific herbal treatments may be necessary to bring the body back to health. To stay healthy, the five basic elements of the Universe (Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Ether) need to remain balanced and in harmony within the body. Most illnesses arise because of the imbalance of any one or two of the Tridoshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), which leads to malfunction of the internal organs. Although Ayurveda acknowledges that germs spread infective diseases, the treatment is based on the system of Tridoshas. Ayurveda does not ‘kill’ an infection like antibiotics do but instead it strengthens the body’s immune system to fight disease or infection.
An ounce of prevention is the Ayurvedic doctors’ mantra. The causative factors that allow the bacteria to grow have to be removed. Looking at the diet, exercise and stress levels. Stress depresses our immune systems almost over night. Changing our life styles, opting for the right diet and taking the support of an Ayurvedic regime helps us to support and maintain a healthy immune system.
Ayurveda suggests internal treatment. An anti-pitta diet is suggested. Avoiding excessive consumption of tea and coffee, avoiding oily and spicy food, stopping alcohol consumption, etc. are all an essential part of this treatment. Plenty of salads, sprouts, juice from bitter leaves (e.g. neem juice) and some astringents are recommended. Applying herbal packs externally helps in dissolving local infection or purging it out.
Important Ayurvedic herbs recommended in this treatment are manjistha (rubia cordifolium), katuka (picrorrhiza kurroa), neem (azadiracta indica) haridra (curcuma longa, commonly known as turmeric), daruharidra (berberis spp., commonly known as barberry), etc. Most of them are bitter in taste. Kumara (aloe Vera) in the form of medicinal wine (asava) is a good medicine that helps in improving liver function and thus in detoxification.
These are all Ayurvedic blood purifiers and help to establish a pitta balance in the body. Ghee (clarified butter) is used internally as well as externally. Laxatives like triphala churna {a powder consisting of haritaki (termilania chebula), bibhitak (terminalia bellerica) and amalaki (emblica officinalis)}, gandharvaharitaki {a powdered form of haritaki (termilania chebula) prepared in castor oil} or eranda tel (castor oil) are recommended because they help in cleaning the bowels.
KEYS TO KEEPING TO BUGS AT BAY!
o Exercise, walk, do yoga, anything, just as long as you get moving and stretching.
o Eat intelligently and take a few supplements to boost your immune system.
o Try to avoid alcohol, smoking, and recreational drugs.
o Rest and relax. Learn to meditate!
o Despite all of our best efforts, life just sometimes lets us down and we get sick. At some point you will decide to see the doctor. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If your doctor diagnoses you with an upper respiratory infection, sore throat (in which the strep test is negative), bronchitis, sinusitis, or ear infection, and you wonder if you really need an antibiotic, ask if you can treat your condition symptomatically and come back or call in a couple of days if you are not better.
o Take a look at your life-style. Are you getting sick every few months? Are you taking antibiotic after antibiotic and now have a yeast or fungal infection?
o Researchers now agree that a fungus causes most chronic sinus infections. So if you are taking antibiotics stop and go on an antifungal diet instead.
o Remember, if you have to take antibiotics, take the full course. Do no be tempted to stop just because you feel better. Remember those super bugs!
o If you have an understanding doctor, ask if you can take an antifungal medication with your antibiotics. Nystatin is an excellent choice.
o Beware of constipation. Antibiotics kill off your friendly, intestinal bacteria; once you cease taking antibiotics you’ll run a higher risk of infection by other, more hostile bacteria. These bacteria will be quick to find and exploit pockets of debris that could be collecting and putrefying in your intestines if you happen to become constipated. So, be sure to keep your digestive tract as clear as possible until you can repopulate it with friendly bacteria. Psyllium hulls fiber from your local health food store is the best, bulk fiber to use, as long as you don’t have a history of intestinal obstruction.
o Remember to replace the good bacteria in your intestines. Supplement with an acidophilus supplement for at least six weeks following any course of antibiotics. Do not take these simultaneously with your antibiotic, or you will end up with a lot of very dead, albeit still friendly bacteria in your intestines.
o Sugar is your worst enemy. I could write another whole article on this subject! But it should come as no surprise that quantities of sugar will strengthen fungus and bad bacteria and destroy your immune system. Binge and you will surely get sick. This includes huge amounts of orange juice, which contain lots of sugar!

Ayurveda – Oil Pulling For Detox
Dating back thousands of years, the practice of oil pulling was a popular Indian Ayurvedic treatment. Oil pulling is the process of swirling and pulling oil around the mouth and in between the teeth. When done, the used oil is spit out and then one rinses their mouth with water. The purpose of oil pulling is to remove toxins, contaminants, and bacteria, and infection pus from inside the mouth and in between the teeth.
A person will use one tablespoon of oil and rinse their mouth one to three times a day for about 20 minutes. As the oil mixes with the saliva, the composition will change from its thick consistency to thin, foamy, and a yellow color. The gargling action will trigger enzymes to activate and they will pull out toxins from the blood. You will know it is working because as you continue swishing and swirling, the oil gets thinner and becomes white. Those who study oil pulling report that movement of oil in the mouth causes the sublingual muscles to expel toxins. However, others say the saliva mixing with the oil stimulates the release of stored toxins. It is important not to swallow the oil when done because it contains the toxins and bacteria.
Organic, unrefined sunflower, sesame seed and cold pressed oils are the most recommended oils to use. Experts state that oil pulling should be performed on an empty stomach because you may vomit if you have a full stomach. As well, the recommended time to perform oil pulling is in the morning and a couple of other times throughout the day and evening.
Oil pulling is a component of the Ayurvedic custom of holistic medicine. Health conditions it is used for include: strengthening the jaw, gums, and teeth, as well as for bleeding gums, bad breath, tooth decay, dry throats, and cracked and chapped lips.
After a few weeks of use, one will normally notice such results as whiter teeth, a pink tongue, and better breath.
Indications that oil pulling is working is that one will experience an increase of mucous flow from the sinuses and throat. As it builds up, you can spit it out and start again with a fresh tablespoon of oil. It is normal to feel a little nausea because your body is experiencing the toxins being removed. Your body is actually being cleansed and detoxified. These symptoms will gradually diminish as you get healthier. That is, there is a reduction of toxins in the body.
There have been some astounding benefits reported such as bleeding of the gums will stop, loose teeth will tighten, whitening of the teeth occurs as stains are removed, and there is a reduction in migraines. As well, oil pulling treats the whole body and there have been improvements in such conditions as blood disorders, kidney disease, women’s hormonal troubles, leukemia, bronchitis, meningitis, arthritis, eczema, Intestinal disease, peritonitis, heart disease, and illnesses such as cancer, AIDS, and other long term diseases.
Another benefit of oil pulling is that it is inexpensive and easy to perform. It is completely safe for people, that include children, elderly, and pregnant women. For one looking to embrace a healthier lifestyle by pulling out toxins, pus, bacteria, and other unhealthy elements from the body, oil pulling may be a way of working to achieve that lifestyle.
After oil pulling, we recommend rinsing your mouth and cleaning your sinuses with Himalayan salt water to help rid of bacteria and clean out remainder of build up.

Ayurvedic Medicines and Medical Measures for Constipation
Go naturally. Generally, Ayurvedic remedies are very similar to what’s prescribed in other healing systems. But Ayurvedic practitioners also prescribe herbal laxatives such as senna, rhubarb, aloe, and cascara sagrada. These herbs are potent chemical stimulants, and they must be used carefully, Dr. Pizzorno says. Otherwise, they may cause cramping, diarrhea, and bloody stools. So check with a knowledgeable Ayurvedic practitioner for the proper herb and dosage.
Over-The-Counter Drugs
Head for the drugstore. If none of the above approaches relieves your constipation within a few days, consider taking an overĀthe-counter laxative. In addition to the bulk formers described earlier, you can choose from lubricants, saline laxatives, and stool softeners. All of these products are gentle and safe, but be sure to use them only as directed.
Lubricants contain mineral oil, a petroleum product. Like olive oil, mineral oil coats stool to promote easier passage. Lubricants usually work within 6 to 8 hours.
Saline laxatives change the salt balance in your digestive tract. They draw water into stool, which adds bulk and stimulates peristalsis. Milk of magnesia is the best-known saline laxative. It produces results within 1 to 6 hours.
Stool softeners draw more water into stool, making it softer and easier to pass. These products usually work within 12 to 72 hours. For best results, Dr. Simons says, they should be taken with plenty of nonalcoholic fluids.
Medical Measures
Among over-the-counter laxatives, those classified as chemical stimulants should be considered last resorts and only taken for a short period of time. Among the active ingredients listed on the back of the package, you’re likely to find chemicals such as bisacodyl, senna, and cascara sagrada.
The gentlest stimulant laxatives contain the medicinal herb cascara sagrada (Nature’s Resource). Other, more powerful laxatives have bisacodyl (Dulcolax), buckthorn (Herbal Laxative Tablets), or senna (Senokot). Most have side effects. If you find that you need to use stimulant laxatives, it’s best to consult your physician first.
In addition to their possible side effects, stimulant laxatives can actually cause a form of constipation known as lazy bowel syndrome. In this condition, bowel movements no longer occur without chemical stimulation. Lazy bowel syndrome is one reason why physicians discourage using stimulant laxatives more than once or twice a month.
Besides laxatives, some people rely on enemas to relieve constipation. Enemas irrigate the bowel and act as lubricants and stimulants. But frequent enemas can damage the colon and disrupt the balance of key minerals called electrolytes. For these reasons, the American Pharmaceutical Association advises against using enemas as a treatment for constipation.
Red Flags
While constipation is bothersome, it’s usually not a cause for concern. But it can be a symptom of other, potentially serious conditions such as diabetes, thyroid problems, uterine fibroids, and certain types of cancer. So if your constipation does not clear up after a week of self-care using the approaches described in this chapter, or if it is associated with vomiting, abdominal pain, or fever, consult your physician.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Fibroids
Cleanse your blood. Ayurvedic medicine views fibroids as raktaja gulma-that is, tumors resulting from the impurity of your blood. How your fibroids are treated depends on your constitutional type, or dosha, explains Alakananda Devi, M.B., of Boulder, Colorado. In general, Dr. Devi advises patients with fibroids to exercise more and to reduce their intakes of dietary fat and alcohol. Dr. Devi also prescribes several Ayurvedic herbs, including chitrak and ashoka. Chitrak helps eliminate tumors, while ashoka relaxes the uterus, reduces menstrual flow, and shrinks fibroids.
Medical Measures
“In general, if your fibroids are not causing much discomfort, you might decide to just live with them until menopause shrinks them naturally,” Dr. Simons says. “If you have heavy periods, you can take iron supplements to reduce your risk of iron-deficiency anemia.”
For more troublesome fibroids, mainstream medicine offers two treatment options: drugs and surgery. Drug therapy aims to suppress estrogen, which makes fibroids grow. Two of the most commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals are leuprolide (Lupron) and nafarelin (Synarel). Both reduce estrogen by stimulating the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone, or GnRH.
Surgery is usually reserved for the most severe fibroids. The most conservative procedure, called myomectomy, removes just the fibroids and leaves your uterus intact. But myomectomy may not be possible if you have lots of fibroids or if they’re hard to reach.
The other, more radical surgical procedure is hysterectomy. Fibroids are the reason for about one-third of the 550,000 hysterectomies performed in the United States each year.
With a hysterectomy, there’s no chance of fibroids coming back, because your uterus is gone. If your ovaries are also removed, you may notice a drop in your sex drive afterward. That’s because the ovaries manufacture androgens, the hormones that fuel a woman’s libido. Taking supplemental androgens can correct this problem.
Hysterectomy is major surgery and should only be considered as a last resort. Before agreeing to it, you need to carefully weigh its benefits and risks in consultation with your doctor. Consider all of your treatment options and get several opinions, so you can make an informed decision.
Red Flags
Both oral contraceptives and hormone-replacement therapy (HRT), which some mainstream M.D.’s prescribe for women in or past menopause, contain estrogen. The amount of the hormone is low enough that it shouldn’t stimulate the growth of fibroids. Still, you’d be wise to discuss the issue with your doctor before starting a prescription for oral contraceptives or HRT.
If you’ve already been diagnosed with fibroids and you experience sudden sharp pelvic pain, call your doctor right away. This may be a sign that one of your fibroids has become twisted, cutting off its own blood supply. A strangled fibroid is serious and potentially life-threatening. You may need immediate surgery to remove it.

Parkinsons Natural Treatment
Parkinsons disease is a debilitating degenerative disorder in humans. In this disease, the central nervous system is attacked, and special neurons that deliver dopamine throughout the body are destroyed slowly. As a result, Parkinsons sufferers have increasingly destroyed speech and motor function. And, as a result, many families and friends of such sufferers are looking for a Parkinsons natural treatment that can help alleviate the symptoms of this disease.
One such Parkinsons natural treatment is the use of the ancient Indian method of Ayurvedic medicine. Through the use of specially designed diets, exercise routines, meditation methods, massage techniques, and herb recipes, this method can slow Parkinsons disease down.
Another Parkinsons natural treatment is acupuncture. This ancient Chinese practice is designed to correct disturbances in the body’s natural energy field. By placing needles in strategic points of the body, acupuncture can ease muscle pain and keep muscles from losing shape and power. Acupuncture can also help with sleep. There is some evidence, albeit anecdotal, that Parkinsons disease can be alleviated by this technique.
There are also physical therapies that serve as a Parkinsons natural treatment. For instance, massage therapy can reduce a proportion of the discomfort felt by Parkinsons sufferers. Some well-defined physical therapy exercises, including tai chi, dance, and yoga, have also been shown to improve flexibility and muscle mobility. Such methods also allow Parkinsons sufferers to maintain their sense of balance.
These are only a few examples of Parkinsons natural treatment [http://parkinsons-disease-treatment.blogspot.com/2007/09/parkinsons-alternative-treatment.html] regimens. For more information about the disease and how it is being studied for potential cures, talk to your doctor.

Natural Asthma Treatments
December 28, 2010 by Ayurvedic
While quick relief medicines (referred to as relievers), long-term control medicines (referred to as preventers), and hormones (adrenaline and hydrocortisone) continue to be the most traditional approaches to managing asthma, many doctors are complementing these approaches with natural asthma treatments. In addition, there’s a growing population of sufferers who prefer taking a more natural approach to controlling their condition.
Natural asthma treatments are as much about thinking and acting smart as they are about adding non-Western approaches to your management program. For instance, the best natural treatment is to avoid known triggers. If you’re sensitive to cigarette smoke, avoid it. If cat dander triggers your asthma attacks, don’t put yourself in an environment with cats. If pollen is your culprit, find ways to remain indoors as much as possible during those high pollen seasons such as spring and autumn.
See? Simple common sense.
But let’s move on to proactive natural asthma treatments.
Vitamin and mineral supplements can be an excellent complement to conventional asthma treatments. A nutritional deficiency can weaken your immune system making it more difficult to withstand environmental triggers. By adding a regular routine of supplements, you can keep your immune system strong.
For instance, asthmatics tend to have very low magnesium levels (a mineral that helps relax the bronchial tubes) so adding a daily magnesium supplement to your diet may prove to be very beneficial. Vitamin B6 can help reduce wheezing. And studies have shown that taking Vitamin C before exercise can prevent an asthma attack.
One word of caution with supplements … make certain that they’re hypo-allergenic. You don’t want to be taking something that will aggravate your condition instead of improving it.
Next are herbal supplements. Herbs can be toxic and dangerous if taken in large doses, so make sure you read the label and follow the prescribed doses.
Tylophora indica (also referred to as Tylophora asthmatica) is a rare Ayurvedic botanical known for its anti-asthma/anti-allergy benefits. A 1969 twelve-week study involving one hundred ninety-five patients suffering from bronchial asthma resulted in approximately 15 percent of those who took Tylophora indica experienced complete to moderate relief of their asthma symptoms.
Boswella is derived from resin extracts from the Boswellia serrata tree. While this herb is most often mentioned for its anti-inflammatory properties, some studies suggest it can also be helpful for asthma. In one trial, 300 mg of boswellia serrata taken three times daily showed an improvement in the symptoms of asthma, including a reduction in asthma attacks.
Butterbur is a perennial shrub that contains petasins, which inhibit leukotrienes and histamines. In one study of butterbur, 40 percent of the participants showed improvement and were actually able to reduce their regular asthma medications.
Mullein is a weed and grows everywhere. While some people have experienced immediate relief from asthma attacks when using mullein, others have experienced no relief at all. So this herb is a bit of a hit or a miss, depending on the individual.
Elecampane is a large herbaceous plant found primarily in England. It’s recommended by some herbalists as a long-term treatment for asthma, particularly when mucus is an ever-present problem. There haven’t been any studies of elecampane. So at this time, there’s no real evidence of its effectiveness.
Always be cautious when using natural asthma treatments, and always involve your doctor in the process to make sure there won’t be any adverse reactions with your prescribed medications. And of course, never stop taking asthma medicine prescribed by your doctor without consulting with him or her first.
Discover additional natural asthma treatments and learn more about asthma and allergies in your quest to control your asthma. The better educated you are, the healthier you’ll be.
Osteo Arthritis – Ayurvedic Concept
According to Ayurveda, an ancient medical science, Osteoarthritis a degenerative joint disease occurs due to aggravation of Vata, and is known as Sandhigata vata.
Vayana vata dosha, one of the five types of vata dosha (dosha of air and empty space) governs the entire body and mind movements, like blood flow, heart pulsation, breathing and the thoughts in mind. The vitation of this type of vata causes rheumatism. Osteo arthritis is essentially a vata disorder, with the involvment of pitha and kapha doshas.
Vata has a dry and light qualities and its vitiation leads to imbalance of kapha dosha, depleting the syniovial fluid, that provides cushion and lubrication to the joints. This depletion leads to osteoarthritis in which the cartilage in the joints wears away causing friction, pain and limited joint mobility and affects the large weight-bearing joints, like the hips and knees, also hands, feet, and spine.
Symptoms of this disease are edema, pain, tenderness, stiffness, pain on work etc. It also starts with ageing and the following factors contributes to the vitiation of vata dosha
- Consuming dry, cold or stale food, not regular in sleeping habits, suppressing natural urges.
- Getting exposed to asevere cold and dry weather.
- Excessive travel, leading a vata aggravating life style and undergoing mental trauma.
- Exerting oneself excessively on the joints or any accident which occurs in the joints.
- When the food we eat, is not digested properly it causes ama (toxins) which weakens the colon and it circulates through whole body and gets accumulated in the bones and joints.
- This toxins will block the body channels and inturn vitates vata dosha.
Sandhigata vata or osteoarthritis is the one among 80 vata diseases described in ayurvedic classical texts like Charak samhita and Ashtanga hridaya.
Ayurveda treats Sandhigata vata by modifying the diet, lifestyle, recommends light exercise, and advises one to undergo Panchkarma and Purvakarma detoxification techniques. It also uses appropriate non toxic ayurvedic herbs which helps in lubricating the cartilages within the joints thereby strengthening it.

Diabetes – Ayurvedic View
According to Ayurveda, a holistic alternative medical science, the main cause of diabetes are fat, urine, and Kapha buildups due to foods, liquids, lifestyle, stress and others
It generally believes that any disease caused is due to doshic imbalance. The doshas are the three humors that govern the human body, they are vata, pitta and kapha. It includes diabetes in the prameha category, which are a list of urinary disorders especially characterized by profuse urination with several abnormal qualities.
Classical Ayurvedic therapy for madhumeha (diabetes) begins with an assessment of the dosha imbalance. In all types of pramehas (urinary disorders), kapha is vitiated, but in madhumeha, vata is often aggravated as well. Therefore, therapies will be directed at both vata and kapha simultaneously to restore the balance of the doshas.
By determining the causal imbalances at the basis of a disorder, an Ayurveda evaluation strikes the root causes of diabetes which are Overeating and consequent obesity, Excessive intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates, Overloading of proteins and fats which get converted into sugar if taken in excess, Excessive tension, worry, anxiety & grief, Hereditary factors.
Common ayurveda remedies include :
a) Diet restrictions -Avoid foods that increase kapha dosha like potatoes, rice, sugar, fatty foods and avoiding alcohol.
b) Exercise – Regular physical exercise is a must for diabetics. Practising yogic asanas like ‘Halasan’, ‘Paschimottanasan” are found effective.
c) Panchakarma Therapy – The greatest benefit of Panchakarma is that it reduces the insulin resistance in the tissues in diabetics which is the primary goal in treating the diabetes.
i.e., Ayurveda also addresses the diet modification by eliminating sugar and simple carbohydrates, and emphasizing complex carbohydrates. Protein is limited, as excessive intake can damage the kidneys. Fat is also limited because there is often a deficiency of pancreatic enzymes, making fat digestion difficult. Since many diabetics have autoantibodies, Panchakarma is typically used for this cleansing the same. This begins with herbal massages and an herbal steam sauna, followed by fasting to cleanse the body. This is followed by an herbal purge for the liver, pancreas, and spleen. Colon therapy is next, first to cleanse the digestive tract and then to reconstitute the system.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome – Ayurvedic Medicines
Ayurveda, an ancient system of medical system, believes that Irritable bowel syndrome is caused mainly due to accumulated toxins because of improper digestion. Stressed filled life also indirectly contribute to IBS. It emphasis that it can be treated by a little changes in the diet, lifestyle, yogic practice (yogasanas, breathing techniques, meditation) along with the intake of ayurvedic medicines which are in the form of herbal formulas.
They are the nutritional supplements which helps rectify imbalance of doshas.
But consult a ayurvedic practioner as each individual body is unique. Herbs helps mainly in strengthening the digestive process and flushes away the toxins and they have more anti oxidant actvity. Kaidaryadi qwath, Kaidaryadi tab, Pippalysavam, Indukantam tablet, Dadimadi choornam, Vaiswanara choornam etc are the medicines. Also following too are used to treat IBS.
Vrukshamla, Amlavetasa, Dadima and Badara in the form of powder along with trikatu (Pippali, Shunthi, Black Pepper), five salts added with sugar can be used with vegetables, pulses, cooked cereals.
Always while take soups (raddish soup. Cereal )with black pepper and add Panchakola to it.
Triphala capsules (Terminalia bellirica, Terminalia chebula, Emblica officnalis gaertn) is very helpful in detoxitification process and it strengthens the whole gastro intestinal tract thereby helping to treat IBS.
Ayurvedic Trikatau special rasayana is effective one for fighting IBS. Home remedy that is recommended by ayurveda is ginger and amla.
Herbs like Peppermint (has anti-spasmodic actions), Fennel, Chamomile, Caraway are safe when used in correct dosages.
Diarrheal IBS can be treated by rhkutaj ghan bati, Hingwashtak churna, Kapoor ras etc.,
Constipation I.B.S are taken care by Avipatiikar churna, Triphala Churna, Haritaki Churna, Caster oil, oshnodak Bastee and other.
To attain a balanced mind which indirectly helps to fight IBS, Ashwagandha churna, Saraswat churna, Maha sudershanadi churna, Brahmi churna should be taken.
Wind in stomach I.B.S are treated by. Chitrakadi bati, Lashunadi bati, Madur Kshar with Nimbu swaras.
