panchakarma Intake of too many chemical medicines, low blood circulation, anemia, general weakness after disease, stress, anxiety, and mental tension are also prime causes of hair loss.
Ayurveda has been practised ever since. Today, it’s a unique, indispensable branch of medicine – a complete naturalistic system that depends on the diagnosis of your body’s humours – vata, pitta and kapha – to achieve the right balance.
Ayurveda guides every individual in the prevention of disease and long term maintenance of health. Ayurveda is more than a mere healing system, it is a science and art of appropriate living which helps to achieve longevity. Panchkarma is an Ayurveda Therapy for cleansing of body toxins, achieve balanced state of body, mind and consciousness.
As the name suggests, Pancha in Sanskrit stands for Five and Karma are the therapeutic measures, therefore Panchakarma means five types of therapeutic measures. These five therapeutic measures are undertaken for the purification of the body. Ayurveda considers it necessary before the start of any other therapy. The logic being that as a cloth needs to be purified or cleaned of impurities and dust before it can be permeated with a new color, similarly the body needs to be purified before it can be permeated with new colors of youthfulness, health and vigor etc. Please Purchase Online http://ayurvedasbeautycare.com

Guggul – Herbal Remedies to Lower Cholesterol
January 22, 2010 by Ayurvedic
The guggul tree (sometimes spelt as ‘guggulu’) is an indigenous Indian tree which found abundantly in the temperate climates of north India. It is a small shrub, not more than 4 meters in height. It has a thin bark with thorny branches and trifoliate leaves. It has red or pink flowers with four petals each.
The gum of the guggul tree is used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine. This gum is a yellowing resinous substance that is obtained from the stem of the guggul plant. The guggul plant is very well established in Ayurveda. Even in Sushruta Samhita, one of the most detailed works on Ayurvedic medicine, the virtues of the guggul in the treatment of obesity and rheumatism are recorded. Guggul is commercially available for the treatment of cholesterol and triglyceride deposits in the body. Western research has proven that guggulsterone, a chemical available in the guggul gum is the main beneficial factor in lowering cholesterol. Guggulipid, an extract of the guggul gum is also effective in lowering blood cholesterol.
The guggul is famous in the west with the name mukul myrrh tree. Biologically, it is named Commiphora wightii or Commiphora mukul. In Ayurveda, guggul is rarely taken in its pure form. Whenever it is prescribed for direct oral medication, the guggul needs to be purified. This method of purifying the guggul herb is known as the shodhana. Shodhana is done by boiling the herb in either cow’s milk or its urine. This makes the drug more acceptable to the human body, but it reduces its volatile oil content and hence makes the drug a little less effective in therapeutic terms.
Properties
Guggul is known to have the following properties:-
(i) Guggul disintegrates the cholesterol accumulated in the body. Hence it is used in the treatment of various cardiovascular problems.
(ii) Guggul flushes out the toxins from the body and promotes easy digestion of foods. It has a mild laxative effect.
(iii) Guggul is known to be a liver stimulator.
(iv) Guggul purifies the blood.
(v) Guggul has a treating effect on the nervous system.
Uses
(i) Cervical Spondylosis
Cervical spondylosis is a special type of arthritis which affects the cervical vertebrae, i.e. the vertebrae of the neck region. For the treatment of this disease, guggul is by far the best remedy. It is used in the form of its preparation Simhanada Guggul. The dosage prescribed for the patients is two to four tablets twice a day, followed by a glass of hot water or milk. Due to its laxative effect, it also removes the ama, i.e. the toxic buildup of waste materials in the body. If the bowels move in a regular fashion, the pains of spondylosis are very much reduced. In fact it is only after treating constipation first that any medication for the spondylosis would work.
(ii) Constipation
Guggul is a laxative. It facilitates the movement of the bowels and keeps the digestive system clean.
(iii) Obesity
Guggul is used primarily in the treatment of obesity. It is used in a very unconventional way. The gum resin of the guggul is used to make incense sticks. These are lighted and the fumes are inhaled. Guggul can also be given internally for obese people. Both Navaka Guggul and Triphala Guggul are effective in the treatment of obesity.
(iv) Rheumatism
Yogaraj Guggul is extensively used in the treatment of rheumatism. Two to four tablets twice a day need to be taken. The dose must be followed by a glass of hot water or milk.
(v) Sciatica
Guggul is very effective in treating problems related to the nervous system. It is given to the patient of sciatica in the form of Yogaraja Guggul, of which guggul is the main ingredient. The dosage is two tablets four times a day along with warm milk or water.
Special Ayurvedic Preparations
(i) Guggul Tiktaka ghrita
Guggul Tiktata ghrita is elaborately prepared by boiling guggul in a special kind of butter.
(ii) Navaka Guggul
Navaka Guggul is a combination of guggul with other important herbs. It is generally used in weight loss.
(iii) Simhanada Guggul
Simhanada Guggul is a preparation with guggul with the main ingredient which is used as treatment for cervical spondylosis.
(iv) Triphala Guggul
Triphala Guggul is a compound extract (of triphala) to which guggul is added.
(v) Yogaraja Guggul
Yogaraja Guggul is a very special preparation with guggul as the main ingredient. It is a mixture of about twenty powder extracts, among which guggul is the chief ingredient. It is used as a carminative, for lowering cholesterol and as an antipyretic.
Apart from these, there are many other guggul preparations being widely used such as Gokshuradi Guggul, Salai Guggul, Amrutadi Guggul, Kaishora Guggul, Kanchanara Guggul, Trayodashanga Guggul and Maha Yogaraja Guggul.
Precautions
The use of guggul must always be done under the supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. Excess of guggul almost always causes a rash on the body. But there are other more serious problems associated with an over-intake of guggul. For one, guggul interferes with the liver functions. Hence people with liver conditions must not use guggul. Guggul is used in the treatment of digestive problems. But an excess of guggul can worsen the conditions. People having constant problems such as diarrhea and inflammatory bowel disorder must avoid taking guggul.

Exploring the Many Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment Options
Corticosteroid Medications
A stronger first-line drug given to rheumatoid arthritis patients includes oral or injected corticosteroids. Although the chances of enhanced joint mobility and function is often achieved, there are serious side effects that may also occur. High doses of these drugs for a long period of time increases the likelihood that issues may arise, such as muscle wasting, facial puffiness, and weight gain.
Taking DMARDs can heighten the infection risk, cause loss of hair and possibly cause damage to the liver or kidneys. Methotrexate is a well-known DMARD and is administered orally or injected. It has been found especially effective when combined with the new generation treatment, ENBREL.
Other Simple Cures for Arthritis
Did you know that you can treat and cure arthritis with other simple cures? In fact, by eating a proper diet, drinking the correct fluids (water), doing the correct breathing exercises daily, getting an adequate amount of low-impact exercise, reducing stress and taking the correct vitamins and natural supplements you can actually eliminate almost 100% of arthritis NATURALLY (No Drugs and No Surgery Needed)! To discover what thousands of arthritis sufferers already have, please visit our Natural Cure for Arthritis Website.
In severe cases, surgical removal of affected joint lining can prevent damage to other joint structures and cartilage. Another surgical procedure fuses the painful, uncushioned bones together but is only performed on the wrist, feet, ankles, and thumbs because it restricts motion. Tendon transfer is another surgical option for repairing damaged tendons and ligaments it is performed most frequently on the hands. Another option is arthroplasty, or joint replacement, which is usually performed on knees, hips, and shoulders.
Patients should undergo therapeutic exercises in order to keep the affected muscles in good condition and prevent or reduce deformity to the area. These will also help maintain the patient’s vitality.
The knowledge and facts are out there and are slowly making their way into the mainstream. However until this data becomes widespread common knowledge among all of those in the medical profession, there will continue to be a heavy reliance on chemical medications and drugs of varying effectiveness. Such methods can have a less than stellar success rate, and may even carry adverse side effects that may become serious problems.
Massage Oils of peppermint, lavender, camomile and geranium may be massaged into the affected area. Ruta graveolens cream may also be used. Self-mobilize the toe by gently pulling it and moving it around.
Despite this study we can still hear opinions about the connections between rheumatoid arthritis treatment and the development of lymphoma, as a consequence.
Oral medications include Maharasnadi decoction, Triphala Guggulu, Yograj Guggulu and Ashwagandharishta. Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) and Guggulu (Commiphora mukul) compounds are given for prolonged periods. Multiple herbal compounds containing Guggulu are available, which are used according to the presenting symptoms and the staging of the disease as done by the Ayurvedic practitioner.

Obesity Treatment – Herbs and Ayurvedic, Home Remedies
In Ayurveda, obesity is known as Medo Roga. It is simply defined as the condition in which excessive amount of fat is accumulated in the body. There are two main reasons for this abnormal deposition of fat – (i) excessive fat intake through the diet and (ii) some metabolic problem which does not allow the proper utilization of fat in the body. Ayurveda holds agni, or the digestive fire, responsible for obesity. When the agni is vitiated, then the ama (toxic substances) is built up in the body, leading to obesity.
The fat accumulated in the body could lead to a deposition of cholesterol in the arteries and the veins of the body. This is where most of the problems begin. The collection of the cholesterol can reduce the diameters of the blood vessels leading to a decreased blood flow into various important organs of the body, including the heart.
(1) Useful Herbs in the Treatment of Obesity
1. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia)
Guduchi is an indigenous Indian herb which is not very well-known out of India. It is a commonly prescribed herb in Ayurveda for the condition of obesity. It helps in the proper canalization of fats in the body and thus reduces obesity.
2. Guggulu (Commiphora wightii)
A great deal of research has been done on the guggulu plant in recent times. The guggulsterone present in it is an alkaloid that has been found to be especially effective in heart ailments. Among its myriad other benefits, one is the reduction of fat accumulation in the body, giving people a leaner physique. Guggulu is the Ayurvedic drug of choice for obesity.
3. Indian Gooseberry (Emblica officinalis)
Known as amalaki in Indian medicine, the Indian gooseberry is the richest source of vitamin C among all foodstuffs. Vitamin C can disintegrate fatty buildup in the body. Hence, it is a very effective herb for the treatment of obesity and related conditions. The amalaki is an integral component of Triphala, which is commonly prescribed in the treatment of obesity.
(2) Dietary Treatments for Obesity
There is a direct relation between the diet one eats and obesity. Controlling the diet is a sure method of controlling obesity. The following guidelines must be observed:-
1. Foods that are excessively rich in carbohydrates must be avoided. These include rice and potatoes. Wheat must be used instead of rice. Barley and maize can also be used effectively.
2. Fatty substances must be avoided. In obese people, the chances of cardiovascular problems such as atherosclerosis are high. Hence, people who consume lots of hydrogenated fats have greater risk of cholesterol buildup in their arteries.
3. Obesity increases the chances of diabetes mellitus. Hence, people who are overweight must reduce their intake of sugars and other sweet foods.
4. Bitter and pungent foods are found to be effective in the control of weight and also preventing the dangers of diabetes in obese people. The bitter gourd and the bitter variety of drumstick are beneficial in this aspect.
5. Obese people must avoid preserved foods. The same applies to refrigerated drinks and cold foods.
6. Among meats, avoid red meats as they have high fatty contents. While buying meats, ask for the lean cuts and get the fats trimmed from them before cooking.
(3) Ayurvedic Treatments for Obesity
Guggulu is prescribed by most Ayurvedic physicians as the drug of choice in the control of obesity. It may be prescribed in its pure form (in the dosage of one gram four times a day), or it can be given in a mixture form as Navaka Guggulu or Triphala Guggulu. These are given in tablet form, followed by some hot drink. Mineral supplements such as Tapyaadi Lauha and Shilajitawadi Lauha are given in conjunction with the Guggulu tablets.
(4) Home Remedies for Obesity
1. When you wake up in the morning, have a tablespoonful of honey mixed in an equal amount of water.
2. Drinking hot water continuously throughout the day also helps to dissolve the excess fat in the body.
3. Ginger is effective in dissolving fat. Have it twice or thrice a day in the form of tea.
4. Every one day a week, have a totally liquid diet. Fasting entirely can also be done if it is physically tolerable. This helps to flush out the toxins and excess fats accumulated throughout the week.
5. Regular exercise is one of the most important things. It helps to reduce the excess fats in the body and also keep the person fresh and active throughout the day.

Arthritis Cure – Herbs and Ayurvedic Remedies, Arthritis Home Remedy
The word arthritis is derived from two root Greek words – arthros meaning ‘joint’ and itis meaning ‘inflammation’. Hence, arthritis literally translates as inflammation of the joints.
Arthritis is an auto-immune disease, which means, it is a disease in which the human body attacks itself. It begins in one or two joints where an acute pain is felt. This is the most miserable phase of arthritis. Over time, this pain may disappear, but it could cause permanent deformities in the bones and joints.
In all types of arthritis, the following symptoms are observed:
- The initial pains are felt as fleeting pains in the joints, which seem to be no more than a twitching pain.
- Pains alternate between various joints quickly.
- If the arthritis becomes acute, then on a particular day there is very sharp pain in a joint, and it becomes absolutely normal the next day. The next day another joint could be affected in a similar fashion.
- The pains could increase in the winter season or in cold nights.
(1) Useful Herbs in the Treatment of Arthritis
- Alfalfa (Medicago satina)
Alfalfa makes the food residues in the body alkaline, which helps in assimilating them easily into the blood. This is effective in reducing the rheumatoid pains. Tea is made from the seeds of the alfalfa for consumption.
- Castor seeds (Ricinus communis)
The seeds of castor are beneficial in arthritic pains that are of a gouty or rheumatoid nature. The seeds are made into a poultice and applied over the affected joints.
- Celery (Apium graveolens)
The high sodium content of celery is useful in relieving the pains of arthritis. Freshly extracted juice of the celery plant must be taken for the best results.
- Garlic (Allium sativum)
The benefits of garlic in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis are acknowledged all over the world. It relives the pains of arthritis due to its anti-inflammatory properties. There are very little or no side-effects in using garlic as a remedy.
(2) Dietary Treatments for Arthritis
Constipation can aggravate arthritic pains. Hence foods that are difficult to digest must be avoided.
The following foods must be avoided if you have continuous arthritic pains:
- Animal fats
- Fried foods
- Foods rich in carbohydrates like potatoes
- Tomatoes
- Peppers
- Salt
- Sour foods, including curds
Taking five cloves of garlic early morning is a good diet remedy for reducing arthritic pains. Bitter vegetables have also been found to have excellent properties in the treatment of arthritis. These include bitter gourd and bitter drumsticks.
(3) Ayurvedic Treatment for Arthritis
Mahayogaraja Guggulu is the drug of choice in arthritis. Its dosage depends on the climate. In winter season, the dosage is double of what it is in the summer. In summer the dosage is two tablets twice a day. The preferable mode of taking these tablets is on an empty stomach, and they should be taken with milk or warm water.
For bigger joints suffering from arthritis, Brihadvata chintamani is given in a dosage of 250 milligrams twice or thrice a day. If the spine also develops arthritic pains, then the dosage increased for a week; then returned back to normal. For chronic arthritis, Maharasandhi kwatha is prescribed.
Mahanarayana taila is prescribed for external application over the affected joints. The application must be done with a gently massage. In the winter months, the oil must be warmed before application for better results.
(4) Home Medications
Some household remedies are known to provide relief from arthritic pains. The following are some of the more benefiting ones:-
- Applying a paste of limestone and honey on the affected joints externally provides relief.
- Mash some mustard in warm water and apply this solution on the joints. This must be done repeatedly to get results.
- Put two teaspoons of cumin into a glass of water. Bring this to a boil. When the water is still hot, soak a towel in it and foment the affected region with this towel. This will provide relief from the pain within a few hours.
- Asafetida mixed with egg yolk can be applied on the affected joints to seek immediate relief.
- Prepare a pancake from wheat flour. Roast it on one side, but leave it uncooked on the other. Then put some heated mustard oil on the uncooked side. When it is hot, tie it like a tourniquet on the affected joint, or provide fomentation with it. This provides quick relief.
- Mix some cardamom in milk. Put a pinch of turmeric in this milk. This is to be drunk every night while going to sleep. This makes the person sleep peacefully in the morning.
Simple yogic asanas and light exercise helps proper digestion of the body and also protects it from autoimmune problems. Hence, these are beneficial in arthritis.
If you have recurrent pains in the joints, then do not keep the joint covered. As far as possible, keep the joint exposed to the air. For example, if you have pain in the knee joints, then do not wear tight denim clothing; shorts would be a good idea. This will provide freer circulation of blood in the joint and reduce the pains.

Ayurvedic Treatments For Arthritis: Old Is New
January 8, 2010 by Ayurvedic
Such is the case with Ayurvedic Medicine Treatments for Arthritis. Based on ancient Brahmin Indian treatments 3,000 to 4,000 years old, this holistic approach to helping sufferers cope with arthritis is enjoying a re-found popularity. The World Health Organization agrees Ayurvedic treatment is a useful traditional health science.
As with other holistic systems of healing, Ayurveda recognizes that all people are unique, and thus even though they may evince the same outward symptoms, the path to their healing differs.
This means the remedy for your arthritis pains and suffering is different than those of your neighbor or friend.
Several recent studies in the United States, India and elsewhere have confirmed Ayurvedic treatments as a means to natural arthritic pain relief.
The American College of Rheumatology conducted a double-blind test trial of 90 people with osteoarthritis. The study show 50 percent of the patients who took a combination of tumeric, frankincense (Boswellia) ginger and ashwagandha had significant improvements with pain relief as well as mobility. In contrast, only 20 percent of their placebo group reported any arthritis pain relief.
In another double-blind study of 182 people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, the use of the same anti-inflammatory herbs brought about “marked improvement” in pain relief, reduction of stiffness and the severity of swollen joints and brought improvement in their overall ability to function.
A study in India considered the results of the combining of frankincense, tumeric, zinc and ashwagandha as natural arthritic pain relief. (Though the herbs have some medicinal powers on their own for the treatment of arthritis and other joint pain, Ayurvedic medicine has found combining them for better results.)
In the 1991 study, 42 osteoarthritis sufferers who were treated with the Ayurveda herbs in concert, showed “a significant reduction in pain and disability”.
And although researchers say it can take up to a month for Ayurveda herb usage to produce positive results, the effects of the herb use for arthritis pain relief can last for several years without the need to increase dosage!
To help you heal without the addition of more medication, which may bring with them own complications, requires more than popping yet another pill. It requires attention to the mind and body. Both medically-trained physicians and Ayurvedic practitioners agree a holistic approach to the treatment of Arthritis is apt to bring about the best and longest-lasting results.
To help assist your natural arthritis pain relief, in addition to Ayurvedic treatments, it’s also imperative to work at improving your lifestyle habits and practices. Here are some examples:
* Add meditation and occasional fasting to your Ayurvedic routine
* Exercise often – but avoid those that cause you pain. Start and progress slowly, but do it daily.
* Reduce caffeine intake
* Don’t’ smoke. If you do, quit – if necessary, recall American humorist Mark Twain’s advice, “Habit is habit, and not to be flung out of the window…but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.”
* Reduce your stress and anxiety using simple breathing techniques and physical exercise.
Your arthritis can be managed through natural pain relief by using ayurvedic treatment. You won’t know until you try. Why suffer any longer?
